In comparison with their European counterparts, the attitude of the British Male is nigh-on Neanderthal. For our boys, losing a match - to a foreign team - poses a potent threat to their manhoods. What's more, a match is not a match unless they have drunk themselves to near-oblivion - thus making a ruck a dead cert. The British male's liberal attitude to binge-drinking, combined with his misplaced patriotism, reveals the European male as a model of culture and restraint, by comparison.
