| SYNOPSIS |

|
The team begins to climb the treacherous ice of the French Spur, when hurricane force winds lash the mountain. Deputy climb leader Dave Wilson quickly evacuates the mountain, before his colleagues are ripped off the exposed Spur. |
Sitting out the storm for five days is not what they need, as the short climbing season begins to slip away. When the wind dies down, they head back up the mountain. But back at base camp there's suddenly a medical emergency as the altitude claims its first victim, who is found with brain fluid leaking out of his nose.
Up on the mountain, the weather plays havoc yet again. Over a meter of snow falls in 24 hours, leaving one group of climbers stranded in Camp Two, half-way up the French Spur.
As avalanches rumble around them, there is a serious risk of being swept off the mountain, and the rest of team at base can't raise them on the radio. Meanwhile, those who have made it off the mountain have to negotiate a glacier riddled with hidden crevasses in a complete white out, to make it to the safety of base camp. |
