Was a distinguished defender, usually employed as a left-back, who started his professional career with Torquay United before joining Southend United, who then sold him to Tottenham Hotspur where he played alongside Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock.

Like Razor he was known for his passion and his grit, not frightened to make a crunching tackle when necessary and never afraid to stand up for himself.

He stayed at Spurs for most of the 1990s, winning an FA Cup winner's medal in 1991 and a League Cup winner's medal in 1999.

In total, he made 190 League appearances (and 23 as substitute) for Tottenham, scoring a solitary goal.

He later played for Portsmouth F.C., before finally ending his career at Billericay Town. He is currently manager of semi-professional side Fisher Athletic F.C.
