Booze,
anger, depression, could the solution to all these ills be
a load of balls?
Ex-Tottenham player and former alcoholic Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock thinks
so. He plans to build a football team, hand-picked from 17 dysfunctional
geezers, each trying to combat his own personal demons.
Alongside Justin
Edinburgh, Razor’s former Spurs colleague, fitness trainer Angie Dowds, nutritionist Dr
Adam Carey and sports
psychologist Keith Power, Neil plans to drill
these problematic footie fanatics into a fully functioning
squad. Each episode will also feature famous footballers, like
Irish international
Dean Kiely and ex-England players Paul
Walsh and Luther Blissett,
who’ll be on hand for training and advice.
At the start
of the series, the lads will live together at a football
boot camp, learning the basics while attempting
to gel together as a viable football force. Once the camp is
complete, they’ll meet for training
and matches, while
video diaries will keep an eye on their training schedules
as well as diet or drinking regimes.
In the final 90-minute episode, they’ll face a team
made up from much-loved legends from soccer’s past. All
that the men have learnt so far will be put to the test in
what promises to be the biggest challenge of their lives. |
